Yes, I'll admit it. I'm one of the biggest scrooges out there. Celebrating the holidays has never been much of a celebration to my. To me, the holidays have usually meant arguing amongst the relatives, grief over who's going to host the dinner, alcohol vs. no alcohol, blah, blah, blah, etc. etc. I hate the commercialism. I hate the idea of buying gifts for people that you see 1-3 times a year. I'll admit, I LOVE the reactions on my kids faces when they're opening presents. It brings tears to my eyes to see the joy in their faces. (Yes, gotten emotional in my old age). There are SOME good things, but the idea behind it all has been lost throughout the ages. No, I'm not religious in any way, shape, or form, but when it comes to the holidays, it should be about family, joy, and spending time with the ones you love. That has been lost as retail outlets compete for business.
